12/11/11... Hall of Fame...
In the middle of November I had the great fortune of visiting the Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum! The Hall, located in Arlington,TX, is only a stone's throw from the Texas Rangers Stadium and Cowboys Stadium! The Hall and Museum is really a hidden treasure, full of "Americana" history! I was able to see examples of the game's origins and tributes to the greats of the past! The Hall is located in the BPAA and USBC Complex so bowling is "spoken here"! If you're ever in the Dallas area make sure to visit the Hall, it will be well worth the time!
10/02/11... Practice Makes Perfect...
The new 11-12 season has already witnessed some pretty impressive scores, (2) 300's and (2) 800's. These top scores have been rolled by the same bowler, Kevin Newberry. This right hander is exploding the pins! However there is reason. Many have complained with the same ol, i.e. lanes are set up for him, he's lucky, etc. But the facts, Kevin is practicing and bowling games everyday. Notice his game : he's taken the wide angle away, he's completely on balance, he never varies on the lane more than 2 or 3 boards. Ask Kevin and he'll confirm that practice led to his perfecto's. So hit the lanes and watch your scores improve!
09/22/11... Youth Bowling Takes to the Lanes...
The 2011-12 edition of Lumberton's Youth Bowling Program took to the lanes on September 10th. The program, under the direction of Robert Cline, continues to grow and develop. The league has started it's first 12 week session with 12 4-person teams. What is really exciting is the number of new faces on the lanes - lot's of first timers! But the absence of some familiar faces is sad also. Although our graduating bowlers are going to be missed, the replacement on the lanes by some "eager to learn" keglers makes the void a littler easier to absorb. We really look forward to a super youth season and remember kids can join the program at any time during the season!
